Refrigerator Art

The Rogue Speaks:
It's not what you think! There are no paintings of polar bears in a snow storm, or a whiteout during a blizzard. It's all about what you have on your 'fridge. You know those magnetic letters that come in a little box and allow you to create your own poetry on the 'fridge? Well, I love those things! I created the poem above, but when I tried to photograph it for this post, the glare was too strong, so I had to create it with one of my programs. The magnet below it is one of my favorites. I really don't know a lot of normal people, so it's perfect for me. Aside from those and a couple of others, I only have pictures of my grandchildren.

I am looking for some interesting stuff that you have on your fridge, like a note that says "return pregnancy test," or "call exterminator about squirrels in the attic," or "herpes test Friday." After that one comes "refill Valtrex." Then there could be "return movies to Porn King video rental." "appt. w/ therapist Fri. at 2" is probably found on a 'fridge somewhere. "Stick needles in both eyes on Monday" is probably not. Nor are you likely to find "eat two pounds of M&M's Friday night." No, wait! My Best Friend Artist loves chocolate, and I know she has a bunch of strange things on her 'fridge--that might be one of them. I'll have to check.

My 'fridge door used to be so full of stuff that sometimes I couldn't find the handle, so I stripped it down to the bare stainless, and only put up things I couldn't live without seeing every day. Oh, and I do have a grocery list pad hanging there.  It says "Buy every item that gives me  10¢ off each gallon of gas!"  We have some strange stuff in our pantry.  Some day, I may even use it!

Probably the most important magnet I have on my 'fridge, and the one that I should read every day as a reminder, reads:

Thanks, everyone!  Now head on over to Jenny's and read more "R's!!!!"

I have those wooden panels on my fridge, so I can't put up anything I hate that!

But, if I were to put something up there, it might read: "Find a Dog Whisperer who can train these moronic puppies to stop eating poop and chewing up tampons." I know. Disgusting. But, welcome to my world.

Oh and the reply thing is super easy. If you go to your profile on your blog and click the "Edit Profile" and you check the box that says, "show my email address", then other bloggers can contact you via your email. It makes it nice when you want to thank someone for their comment.

I feel your pain! We have been trying for years to keep her from eating her own poop! We have also tried to housebreak her, but to no avail! Thank God she's not a great dane!

O.k., now I am going to edit my profile!!

Aimee has "My garden kicks ass." In reality, it's kicking ours. No little letter magnets. The kids would eat them.

Am I the only one who can see my email address in the dashboard atop the blog page? If not, then we are o.k., but if I am, then I just give up! I can't find that in Edit Profile. Am I a complete idiot??

Joey, you bet I will include Aimee's magnet. Anything with garden and ass in the same sentence is soooo cool! As you can see, I have included one of my magnets on the right side of the page. If you have any cool pictures I can use for my collage, please send them!

This is a great post! Love the concept.

Sadly, the fridge is my wife's domain...which means that order reigns supreme.

We only have pictures of kids or relatives, plus a calendar and some drawings that our kids made. Pretty tame and somewhat boring.

I do have a little wooden box that contains some random stuff.
"Most wanted Playing cards"
"Pocket knives"
"Money Clip"
"Eraser" ???

To get to the real stuff you'd have to ask me what's in my drawers. NO, not those!! My desk drawers!

Mostly sentimental memorabilia recalling the halcyon days of my now twenty year old daughter's childhood. The one exception is this little poster my wife put up: "My house was clean last week. Sorry you missed it."

Thanks for dropping by my new blog and leaving a comment. Much appreciated.

TGP, Great ideas!! The playing cards sound interesting and could go in my collage. Scan a couple and send them in an email.

Yeah, well I can top that poster! I have one that says, "You can touch my dust, but please do not write in it."

I am enjoying your blog!

Haha! That reminds me of this gem by Quentin Crisp: "There is no need to clean the house at all. After the first four years, it doesn't get any worse."

I have been watching the series on the Discovery channel about hoarders, and from what I have seen, it can get worse--a lot worse! I have great sympathy for people who hold their possessions as something sacred. Of course, you had better not mess with the stuff on my 'fridge! I still have the photo from my granddaughter's first high school prom and she is a junior in college.

If you scroll down the pictures on the right, you will see a pen and ink, a page from one of my Best Friend Artist's books. They are so uplifting and comforting, and a lot like your blog! I am so glad I found it.

To Nothing profound, well, I love "Out of Context." I left you a comment. I'll be a regular.

I have a lot of articles and comics on my fridge that I have loved over the years and make me laugh.

My mom recently gave me a card that reads:

Everything will be okay in the end.
If it is not okay, it is not the end.

Kind of cool.

My scanner is broken. I've been trying to get it to work to get some comics up. Actually, now that I think about it, they're still in the cellophane wrapper. Collectors item I guess. Not sure why I'm collecting them though??

Girl Next Door, that is definitely a keeper! I'll use it for sure!

TGP, I CAN use one of your cartoons for my collage, can't I? Love it, and signed up to follow!

At first I thought I had some artwork on my fridge, but then I discovered it was just dried ketchup, mustard and .... what the hell is THAT foodstuff dripping down the handle?

Judie said...

You are so funny, and obviously so forgetful. Do the words FOOD FIGHT mean anything to you?? Hah! I thought you'd remember!

This kind of knowledge is extremely restricted on web. Nice to search out the post associated with my looking criteria. Your updated and informative post are appreciated by diary amorous folks.

I don't have anything on my fridge right now. I did for years though and it was usually drawing the kids did in school.

I do have some cute things on a bulletin board by my desk. My favorite: My Book Club can drink your Book Club under the table.

Hah!

I mostly have souvenir magnets. Also, one of our son when he was young. I have a bag full of different kinds of magnets that I took off the fridge and that my mother had. Don't know what I will do with those, ha!

I have nothing on my fridge, for the simple reason that it is built in the units ! And on wood nothing sticks unless you take a nail and a hammer !

Mrs. Jim sulked (??) until we got a new fridge. It is aluminum polished and magnets don't stick. I do have the vet's take-home magnet stuck on the side so I can call quickly. Even though I have that number memorized.
..
Well, she didn't really sulk but talked quite often about how noisy the old one had gotten. It was very noisy. But that didn't bother me.

My magnet would say: "You are going to be a great-grandfather soon."

We have the battle of the fridge door in our house. I try to be all pristine and minimalist, Mr Wren shoves all manner of events on the fridge door - I can really relate to the not finding the door bit - LOL! Maybe I need to chill and to find some great magnets like yours!

This was fun. I just stumbled across a comment from you on someone's blog and missed seeing you, so I headed over. I must just be missing you when I post on AlphabeThursday because I hadn't read any of these. Love your "peace" quote and also the peek into the OUTSIDE of your fridge.

=)
