M is for MAKING informed decisions!

The Rogue Speaks:

Yes, I know how late I am with this!  I just couldn't seem to decide on an "M" word to write about!!  I am committed to Alphabe-Thursday, however, because it is always so much fun!  When you read the other offerings, you'll see just why that is!!!  Also, I had asked permission from a certain website to use one of their posters for this post, and they haven't gotten back to me yet, so I had to just go with my own stuff.  My BFA thinks that it is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission, but with my luck right now, I would probably get sued!!

It's hard to know these days just what the truth is in this wild political  process that is unfolding before our eyes.    So much mud getting thrown around, so much criticism, and so many lies, and that's just on ONE side!!  When one of those people finally gets chosen to represent the Republican party, how on earth are the others planning on rallying around a contender that they have smeared so thoroughly in the last months?????

It certainly pays to be well-informed about the issues, and the only way we can do that is by researching just what's true and what is a bunch of crap!  How many people do you think will actually go to the trouble of doing that??  I can tell you from experience that there is more than a boatload of people out there who are "one issue voters."  I can also tell you why, I'll bet.  Laziness!!!  They had rather sit around watching reality t.v. in their spare time.  Actually, these days one must really search the listings to find programs that do not fall into this genre!  It is pretty disgusting to me.

I am beginning to consider round-the-clock news as reality t.v.  because so many of the shows are either too far right or too far left.  That's where research comes in!  When you hear something that seems to be a little too absurd to actually be true, CHECK IT OUT!  And when those over-the-top emails start filling your inbox with preposterous and slanderous messages about the other side, then challenge them!  I have challenged them even when they come from my side of the fence!  Sometimes, the other side just doesn't need any help looking ridiculous--they seem to be doing that job all by themselves, so just stay out of the way and leave them to it!

Before the last election, many of my Republican acquaintances were jamming my inbox with a lot of garbage, and some of it was pretty disgusting.  I let them know it, too!  Many of these people were church-goers, and one woman in particular just wouldn't stop.  I sent her an email telling her that I had always thought because she was a regular church-goer, she was a Christian as well, but that I guess I was wrong because the email she sent was definitely not one Jesus would approve of, and to just think about it.  I never get any more political crap from her.

Well, the dogs have started their afternoon bark-off, with Mulligan at his howling best, so it's time to close this and get it posted before Jenny's deadline!  First, I'm letting those bad children out back so they can bark and howl at Paula, my crazy neighbor, and her cousin/husband.  I love it when they do that!!!

I'm always astonished when FCC rulings still allow politicians the ability to inundate us with so much information via all the social media. California, at least, doesn't allow them to robo-dial cellphones anymore...but...what can you do.

Sometimes I just want to keep my head in the sand with all this. I think it's hard to make an informed decision about anything when we really never, ever get all the facts and/or the true facts!

I'm smiling thinking about Mulligan stirring things up down there.

Love the idea of their afternoon 'bark fest'. We get those in our neighborhood every single time a siren goes off anywhere close!

Thanks for linking up Judie. I always enjoy seeing what mischief you're stirring up.

Hugs and A+

I think I know more about American politics than I do for my own country - Canada. We are so passive here and complain silently - then pay for it!
Good email you sent the woman from your church.

This is exactly how I've been feeling. The real truth I'd out there somewhere. Hopefully I'll find it before the election.

WAHAHAHAHA cousin/husband. I know of one of those incestuous relationships. Cousins married to cousins is just too darn close in the family lineage and it messes with gene pool if you know what I mean. Eck! They are the ones that have children that get Fumarase deficiency.

Bark fest? My own fur children bark when a cockroach farts.

As for the politics..I am with you on watching mostly news. I get plenty of emails but I am always checking the sources to see if any are true. I get so many that I usually delete them without reading them. Just to let ya know Snopes isn't always factual or unbiased.

Love this "M" post Judie! Hugs!~Ames

Lately I have been getting calls from Mum's radical republican groups asking for money. I tell them that they just interrupted Rod and me having sex, and to never call again.

There just don't seem to be any good options in politics lately. I'm very curious to see how this election plays out.

I agree If you dont do your research you have no business complaining when all is said and done

The cousin/husband thing is totally gross I sure hope they do not have children

Mischief is right! Mud and Mischief! Politics can drive me crazy--all the mud slinging--and outright lies. I'm surprised at some of the stuff people will believe or some of the views people think will actually have an impact.
I totally laughed out loud at your comment below about being interrupted! This would make a good blog post. No, no. not you and Rod having sex. sorry. retorts to unwanted callers.

Great post. I'm positively disgusted with the voting population and how uneducated/uninformed they seem to be. Some of the crap that is being flung back and forth is beyond ridiculous and amen to your comment about rallying around someone you've been calling a liar, a cheat, a fraud, a whatever for the past months...talk about flip-flopping and lack of integrity.

Oh, don't even get me started. The dogs aren't barking but I wish they were...

Thanks for your rant. Loved it!! :)

Wow, I'm totally impressed (possibly envious) that Miss Jenny is the first to comment...sometimes I forget what my post was when I read her comment...her life's so busy! Your words and thoughts are well spoken and if I may add, when it comes to who to believe or which story is true, it seems that it's not about truth, it's just who has the best managers/promoters....don't you think?

Judie, I confess I take no interest in politics at all. The whole thing seems to me just one big circus of deception and lies. I prefer to expend my energies on personal things, things I can directly influence and affect.

Sometimes it's good entertainment, but only because I'm not a citizen and don't have to actually make a decision. Curiously, I do get political appeals from various senators , etc on certain issues!

You are so right about people not paying attention and the news inundating us. I have started spamming all political email, but guess what? They call my phone! Well, they did until I almost screamed at a woman last week who was determined that I donate $100 to a campaign. I told her I had already given $25 and if she ever called me again I would scream at her until she understood! No more calls since then. I am sick of the whole circus, Judie!

We're also avidly watching - from this side of the pond - how it all pans out!

Great post, Judie!

I have 3 rules that make for a more peaceful life:

1) Don't believe anything you hear from a political ad.

2) Don't believe anything you read in a forwarded email (political or otherwise)

3) Never answer the phone unless you recognize the caller.

In my experience, Snopes has always been the epitome of unbiased, other than toward the truth. Those that charge otherwise have usually had one of their beliefs debunked.

You weren't as late in posting as I was!
We get all the US Republican race on TV up here. It's unnerving - the sheer meanness of it all. I'd just want to tick a box marked 'none of the above' but I guess it's not yet an option.

Hello Judie.
Thank goodness for 24/7 answering machines and real programs like Investigation Discovery, First 48 and Turner Classic Movies...guess I'm just weird. Sounds to me like your dogs have the right idea too (LOL)
Thanks for sharing & visiting.
See you next week!

I am not looking forward to the next Presidential election, as I know I will be inundated with annoying calls and flyers in the mail, let alone all the mud slinging commercials on TV that we will all be bombarded with! Politics in general is in a sad state.

I'm pretty confused with all of these campaigns in the run right now, and they begin to sound like reality TV shows to me..and I can't stand them either...

Cousin/husband at the end sort of make me laugh...Go, dogs, go, bark at them 'til your heart content...
