BUT, MAMA!!!!

The Rogue Speaks:

It's Saturday?  Where has this week gone?  We are leaving on Monday for Jekyll Island, and we have been frantically packing, but we're still not ready!  Oh, well.

Now I understand why those gold shoes look so darned big!  And I thought those legs looked a little, well, a little meaty.  So this week's Saturday Centus gives us the big picture.  Jenny gives us 100 words with which to write a little story about that picture.  Here goes:

BUT MAMA!!!

"But Mama!  All the girls are wearing them!"

"Emma, you are only 5 years old!  You are not wearing high heel shoes, and you are especially not wearing them just because all the other girls are!"

"But Mama!"

"Don't you 'But Mama' me!  No high heels, no lipstick, period!  Just look at my poor feet! How do you think they got this way?  High heels!  That's how!  And what if you fall down trying to walk?  Won't you be embarrassed in front of your friends?"

"But Mama, I won't fall!  Just watch!  See?  I won't fall!  Oh! Oh!  Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!"

I will be on the road next week with only my Kindle Fire with which to connect to the internet, so if my comments to YOUR Centus are short, I hope you understand.  That keyboard is TINY!!

Hi Judie!

Ugh, so sorry I've been absent from blog world. I have been chasing this writer dream. A hell of a lot harder than I could have ever imagined, but like my husband says, "If it were easy, everyone would do it."

Love the story. Having 3 daughters who clamored for high heels from the moment they could walk, I can definitely relate.

And have fun at Jekyll Island. We went one time. And that one time, a hurricane blew through the island. I'm sure it's a lovely place, but we only got to see the inside of our hotel room. Another time, perhaps.

Wow! You must be a lot older than I thought you were! The last hurricane to hit the Georgia coast was 114 years ago!!!

I'm thrilled this mom didn't let her wear them. She'll have plenty to squeeze her feet in those awful heels, lol.

Enjoy your vacation. I hope you get tons of good weather and very little in the way of thundercrackers. Are you going into Savannah at all? I used to live there what seems like a LONG time ago. Always such fun places to poke around there.

Now that's my kind of mother... kids are growing up way too fast these days (well, they're not actually growing up; they're just having a bunch of adult nonsense thrown at them too early). Great take, as always. Have a great trip!

Judie!

Thank you so much for stopping by and reminding me of Kahil Gibran. I have dug out my old copy and plan to take it with me next weekend when I go out of town. It is exactly what I need right now.
