I'll bet you thought that word was misspelled, but it's not. People have been saying "momento" for so long now, that it has almost become acceptable. I say "almost" because it is not acceptable to me. I am tired of hearing words spoken incorrectly for so long that people begin to think it's correct. Rod's pet peeve is the word "forte." So many people have said "fortay" for so long now, that it has become an alternate pronunciation, The correct pronunciation is "fort" and if you look it up in the dictionary, you will not see an accent mark over the "e," which would make it "fortay."
So much for that! I wanted to show you a small part of the "memory of things past" that I have collected since we have lived here on the Georgia coast. I missed the deadline for Jenny's AlphabeThursday, so I will have to post TWO letters this week!
Sea shells are certainly a work of ART, and there is an ART to correct grammar, so ART+ART+ART!!!!

My grammar pet peeve is when people use the wrong word, as in: they're, there, and their. Acckkkk! It drives me nuttier than I already am! :)

I love shells , a trip to a beach is not complete unless I pick up at least one she'll. I went to the beach on my 50 th birthday in January and bought a shell home for my grandson

We have a collection from the South Carolina coast. JDaniel loves to take them out and look at them.
My pet peeve is when people put the "L" in "salmon" -- drives me nuts!
Your shells are lovely! I have a conch that my aunt brought back from Hawaii and gave to me when I was about five -- I cherish it. And "conch" is another one of those words constantly mispronounced!

Yes, really, I agree with you about grammar. Although I will admit I did not know the correct pronunciation of forte. (Putting an object pronoun where a subject pronoun should be is my pet peeve.)
about Richwood Inn--Google maps says it's a little less than 2 hours away, northwest of Lexington. It's on the Indiana border near Madison, not too far from Clifty Falls State Park.
Love it! I am a picker at heart. I use shells, rocks, feathers, what ever I find inviting to my eye and fill bowls and baskets with them. I even found a red rock shaped like Montana while I was visiting there. So in the suitcase it went and it sits in my basket of special finds. I call them ornies. What is the garland thingy?

I like your shell collection. I assume that these are 'special' for you. Seems when I would go to the beach here down at Galveston I would end up with some shells. But never to collect and care for, you did good! (Not well, but doing good for keeping them safe and pretty.)
