My Mismatched Life

The Rogue Speaks:

Well, that title could apply to me, since I should have been a brilliant artist, but instead I am sort of a jack-or-all-trades-master-of none. But this post isn't about me--it's about my friend CJ, who is trying to get her latest blog off the ground. "My Mismatched Life" is about delving into the world of the on-line dating sites. CJ's husband, the love of her life, died several years ago, and she's lonely for some male companionship. She joined an on-line dating service. So far, her matches have been less than stellar, and the same ones keep showing up over and over again. If it were me, I'd be asking for my money back.

When I first read her new blog, I thought it would be an instant hit. Who wouldn't like to read about some dufus who says,

"I have the most perfectly shaped lips that long to be kissed. My ears are eager to hear the whispers of your secrets. But more than anything, my heart longs for laughter. Would you be my Fred Astaire and dance with me in the rain?....enjoy fajitas and drinks on a veranda? I love to travel, laugh, sail open waters, and shop for Antiques. I'm easy going with an eye-catching smile."

Personally, I think this guy spends way too much time in front of the mirror. He should just date himself.

Another mismatch is looking for

"a good person that can be satified wih the simple goodness of life.icecream is great however it comes.when life hands you lemons ,make lemonaid. not to be critical, things can change for the better!realize that its a precious thing to have the love of a good soul, allways be there for them, allways It would be nice if she enjoyed coffee and talk, snugling, spontanious lovin, holding hands, watching t v on a daybed,or making love on a sandbar on a new moon night at low tide,I LOVE CLOSENESS,AND I DONT CHEAT!!!, when a woman shows she would like me to stick around I DO!
currently separated - materialistic
40" hd tv"

I think this letter speaks for itself!!

So if you have ever tried on-line dating sites, or know of anyone who has, or even if you have heard some wild story about on-line dating, please contact CJ by clicking on the yellow link above. As I said, I thought her new site would be an instant hit, but it's not getting enough hits! If it did, she would be off and running with her mismatched life!!

p.s. Have you ever noticed that Blogger always screws us up when we have a post we really want people to read and comment on? I know Blogger is just trying to make things better for us, but do they have to make things worse to do that? If you were unable to load my Alphabe-Thursday post, H is for HEATHEN, could you please try again? As my friend Tony says, "comments are like crack to a blogger."

As a veteran of online dating, (that's how I found Pinky) I'll be happy to check out your friend's site.

The first one sounds like a woman. Why would a man ask another woman to be his Fred Astaire?

You know these remind me of Robyn from Life by Chocolate. I have never looked for a man. Ever. The ones I was supposed to meet just seemed to find me. If I out-live this one, that's it for me.~Ames

I'll try to help her, if Blogger will allow me. I have not been able to post to anyone's blog for over a week.

It sounds as though your friend would like to turn her blog into a revenue-generator. If so, she needs to know that even with a great concept and great writing, it takes a lot of work and a sound strategy to build an audience of that size. It won't happen automatically.

Ahhh, Blogger, my eternal nemesis. Google which is Blogger's mama has been messing things up lately because of their new Google Plus. I am constantly amazed and confounded by both of them and their inability to get the simplest things right.

I'll check out your friend's site. What awesome Match posts! I should join just for the laughs and the blog fodder! Although, I do have to say, I know two couples who are now married who met through online dating sites. If you can weed through the idiots, there are a few good ones out there. Off to read! Missed you, Judie.

Bruce, you have me totally confused. I don't understand how you got "revenue-generated" out of funny stories about on-line dating. Incidentally, I miss reading your wonderful posts. When are you coming back?

Good luck to your friend, Judie! I'll check out her blog. Besides humor, I imagine there must be a lot of pathos behind those dating ads. Have you ever read Miss Lonelyhearts by Nathaniel West? A superb and very sad book. And you're a wonderful artist. You just happen to have other enriching interests in your life.

Hi Judie,

First of all, thanks so much for leaving comments on my blog. That certainly makes blogging extra special! :)

I haven't any experiences in online dating, and, frankly, your friend's experiences don't sound promising at all. ;) Anyway, I hope she will eventually meet the right man.

Are you interested in winning a white cotton T-shirt with a pink heart and the words I ♥ Oktoberfest in size L? Then come over to my blog until Sunday, 22nd January, and leave a comment here .

What about having a look at my Advent and Christmas and getting an impression of Munich's Christmas market ? Moreover, you can see some frosty weather photos and pictures from a walk around my neighborhood on January 1st. Finally, there are photos of New Year's Eve . Of course, comments are welcome -- it's always great to hear what you think!

Have a wonderful 2012,
your blog friend from Munich, Germany,
Birgit

I'm sayin'....I've had more Emails tellin' me they can't comment than I've had comments on my last post. It seemed to start 'bout the time the 'reply' showed up. Progress????

Heeehehehe!!!

I'm married 39 years and holdin' so I haven't had any experience with online datin' but it sure sounds like great blog fodder.

I think the first dude is gay because why does he want to dance with Fred Astaire?! furthermore Gene Kelly was dancing in the rain when I was a small child! Not Fred! If he was looking for a lady he would have said he wants you to be his Ginger Rogers! Ha Ha! The second loser is a legend in his own mind! Judie you are killing my husband! He is rolling over here! I am reading this to him! He has a bad cold! Please stop! Don't make me go to the on line dating service!!!!!!! LOL! Checking out your friends blog! I wish her well! Hugs Anne

P.S. After my dad and dear uncle Louie passed away my mom and her sister-in-law Auntie Ang use to say "These old coots don't want companionship! They want a nurse with a purse! Ha Ha Ha! I had to throw that in!

Too funny! Actually I have a few friends who tried out online dating since it was their only way of meeting new people. My best male friend actually has a lot of great online stories he could probably share. Luckily for him, his current girlfriend, whom he met online, seems like a keeper. We met her in December (she's the first girl he ever introduced to us) and she is so nice and very down to Earth. She makes him happy so we'll see how things go. He might get a happy ending with his foray into online dating :)

Perfectly shaped lips - that's too much. But if you are on any of these sites I bet a lot of guys want to pick you!
