I'VE HAD ENOUGH!!!!!

The Rogue Speaks:

Just before Christmas, my trapesius muscle on my right side went into spasm.  I have a brachial plexus lesion, which I have had for over 30 years.  It hasn't bothered me in a a couple of years, but now the pain is relentless, and I have had all I can take.  I have had muscle relaxants, pain meds, physical therapy, and a Tens unit which I use ALL DAY EVERY DAY, and still the pain is there.  The fingers on my right hand have a life of their own, and typing is so laborious!!!  On Monday I plan to fire my GP, who has been "treating" me for 3 MONTHS!   I can't even get a prescription filled without an office visit!  All he wants is the MONEY!  He doesn't even read the reports until I am actually in the examining room!  There was a time when doctors went into medicine to HELP PEOPLE!!!!!.  WHERE ARE THOSE DOCTORS?????

"Good things come in fives??"
My hurt is worse than hives!
My pain is in my back!
(I'm so sick of this!!)
My doctor is a QUACK!!!

That's all for today, Centusians!  Head over to Jenny's and read the other offerings for her brilliant
Saturday Centus!  I'm outta here!!!!

It sounds awful. I hope you find someone who'll work with you to find a healing strategy. I'm sure you whole life seems focused on your shoulder right about now.

Dear Judie,
so sorry you're in pain! Please, get a SECOND opinion (may be from a friend whose referral you trust). Form the sister of an MD -there are goof ones, and not so good ones! Hope you'll find the right treatment and/or meds.!

Sometimes finding the right doc is a major project -- not easy to take on when you are in such pain, but please make up your mind to find that doc. Now I need to go and google Tens unit.

I have the same pain on both of my shoulders these last few years, and I can relate..Hugs, Judie!

I'm sorry about your pain and your doctor. Healthcare is ever lacking nowadays.....it is truly about making money.

For your info: A Tens unit looks like a little fat cell phone with two sets of wires attached. The wires have sticky pads on the ends. The pads go on the area of the painful muscles and send an electrical current through them. The current confuses the nerves to reduce the pain and suppposedly causes the muscles to eventually relax. My muscles have a mind of their own, however.

Glad you are changing doctors. This sounds like a major drag, and I hope you find someone who will be your partner in finding out what is wrong and curing or at least alleviating what ails you.

Those good docs are out there, so don't lost heart. (Easy to do, because they are hard to find.)

Hmmm, where have I heard those complaints about doctors before? Oh, yeah.... out of my own mouth! Even our favored, next-door-neighbor family physician started requiring those extra visits - I guess it is part of medicare or a way to get covered by insurance for treatments.
I hope you get help - your pain sounds terrible.
Loved your 5 X 5 - clever!

Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting!

Good you are changing doctors. There is no good reason for you to be treated like that.

A painful post no doubt. I can sympathize with your plight. I did read that as a part of Obamacare, doctors are required to do treatment in three steps. A.B.& C. If a doctor already knows A. & B. won't do any good and tries to skip to C. he will be fined $200,000.00. The second offense is jail time. I read this via an email sent to me so I'm not sure how factually correct that information is.

My spine doctor went through the steps with me too. Even cauterized my nerves. Then he prescribed me Elivil which is actually an antidepressant but it has something in it that tells your nerves to not feel the pain. I tell you what...after taking it the first night, I woke up without any pain. And as an added benefit I have an improved outlook on life.

Doctors tend to forget they work for us. I would request copies of all my records from him amd move on. There are plenty of other doctors out there.

I hope you feel better soon my friend. I will say a prayer for you. Love ya! Mean It!~Ames

I went to the doctor and he said, "You're fat."

I said I wanted a second opinion, so he said, "You're ugly too."

Wait, that wasn't me... that was Rodney Dangerfield.

Oh Judy, you make me hurt just to read this. For sure it makes me wish I could do something for you. I think a specialist should be seen. See my story below.

Even though you are hurting you did a GOOD JOB on this weeks prompt instructions. You have a well written 5 X 5 poem.

I am also with you on Rush, all the way! If he is right that his "'talent is on loan from God!'" then we should be praying for God to remove it.
..
On December 29 I had my T-12 vertebrae repaired by a Skeletal System Orthopedic Surgeon. My GP was treating it with pain killers which didn't work.

My pain was terrible. First I went to the Urgent Care facility. The doctor's PA held my leg up and pulled on it and said there wasn't any spine problem, it was muscular. She gave me a shot and a pain killer and muscle relaxant prescription.

At least my GP had it X-Rayed and bone scanned to find the crushed vertebrae. After his fixes weren't working he called his crony, a radiology interventionalist, who was doing what my surgeon did.

But I wasn't called so I went to my knee doctor's (earlier he replaced my left knee joint) office, saw the back dr, and we went from there as above.

The pain was gone immediately as I was awake during the procedure. I still have a lingering backache but it is lessening with therapy and exercise.

Jim, the first call I am making tomorrow is to an orthopedist who gave me a FABULOUS injection for encapsulitis several years ago. I've got nothing to lose at this point!! The tens unit beguiled me and I used it on HIGH for a couple of days, all day long and burned my back. It is now blistered, watery, and peeling!!!! I am working on an art exhibit in the morning, but as soon as I am through, I am calling my current doctor and FIRING him! He blames everything on "Obamacare" but the fact is, he is LAZY!!!!Get over yourselves, you MD's out there! Either you went in to medicine to actually help the suffering of humans, or you went in it for the money. If you want more money, try the derivitives market, but don't expect to get into Heaven when you die.

Bluz, you know I adore you. What a great comment! Since I'm not into the Penguins, I don't feel qualified to leave a comment on your post, but I still love you and wear my "Heathen" shirt all the time. If only I was younger and lived in Baltimore.....NO! Wait, Pinky!! I was just kidding!! I'm in enough pain already!!! Oh! Oh! OUCH!!!!

Judie, I know exactly how you feel in both location of pain and current doctor practice fronts. I suffer from chronic neck pain that affects the muscles on my shoulder. They sometimes spasm and cause ongoing headaches. I rely little on meds because I feel it masks the problem and only take them when I can't bear it anymore. I find massage therapy works best for muscle tightness and spasms and went through six months of it through insurance going twice a week to physical therapy. Not all physical therapy locations do it though. My current one doesn't offer massage therapy and I'm bummed about it because it worked so well (that was a year ago). Plus, I also receive chiropractic care. If you have discs that are misaligned or are herniated, your muscles automatically spasm to protect. Good luck and I hope this helped somewhat. I rely on both treatments to maintain my sanity and they work wonders.

Hi Judie,

I'm so sorry to hear about your trapesius muscle and that you are in pain. I stand behind you in firing your GP. Sometimes we need another opinion. I had a doctor once you would force me to go into the office just to write a script. Now he is no longer my doctor :-)

See how cool you are, even through all your pain you have the greatest heart and humor to share! As for all those quacks in our life...just keep the cute little ducks in a row close to you and get rid of all the others! Hugs for you Judie!

Cher Duncombe said...

Fire that doctor, Judie or I will fire him for you! Enough with all this pain. There is no reason that you should need to suffer like this. If all else fails, let them know you have an 'army' of followers who will kick butt in order to get you well. Humpf!

I hope you feel better soon.

When I had surgery, the anesthetist temporarily damaged my ulnar nerve with an IV needle. - the pain for about a month was far worse than the new incision.

We are all pulling for you.

Tess Julia said...

I hear you! I've had to change doctors recently too, here's why-
My conversation with the secretary, word for word went like this:
"I just had surgery and they made me promise to call you. . "
"Girl yeah, the anesthesiologist called and you coded! Let's see. .we can see you next week Wednesday."
So even dying during surgery, being resuscitated, still does not qualify for being worked in!
I'm sorry, I digress. I left you some awards on my blog, and I really hope you find relief soon from the pain.

Judie, I'm sending you a virtual back massage....not one that will hurt you! One that will make your pain go Poof! (well, not really, but I'm sending well-wishes and great karma!)

Great entry, and I feel your pain - sell, (my pain, but you know what I mean). Been there done that, you need to find a doctor who will listen to you and treat you - and preferably one who is not on some pharmceutical rep's payroll!

Finding a good doctor is rare these days, alas.

Oh and thank you for your little poetic comment on my entry, made me smile! Hope you're better soon!

Oh that doesn't sound pleasant at all. Sorry.. :( Have you tried accupuncture? I know. Just another suggestion you don't need. Good luck finding that one good doctor.

From one who has suffered with back pain/neck pain/shoulder pain/leg pain from time to time over many years, I RELATE!
Your doctor IS a quack! Luckily, I have doctors (both GP and chiropractor) who are not like that!
May your pain ease, your body heal.

Thank you for visiting and commenting on my blog while I was on vacation.

Judie: I checked in to see how you were doing, and I am sorry to hear of your ailment. The doctors of yesteryear are all gone. You might as well hit the crap tables. You won't feel any worse, and you will save some money.

Jenny said...

I can't even imagine the pain of a bad back. It seems like everything single thing you do must aggravate it, Judie.

I hope you can find a better doctor. Will your insurance allow you to change?

I can't believe how creative you are, though, even living with this chronic pain.

You're my hero!

I hate thinking you are in pain! That stinks! Doctors today are so different. I hate that they milk the co pays as much as the ins. cos. milk us! Yikes!
