I READ IT IN THE STARS!!

The Rogue Speaks:

Jenny! You have given us quite an assignment! We're writing our 100 word offering around a horoscope in today's paper?? Someone stayed up very late to come up with that one!! My horoscope message is a couple of days early, but still pretty much on target. I'm not using mine, though. I'm sure my blogging friends are not interested in hearing about Bunco here on Monday night. Frankly, following so closely on the heels of Thanksgiving, I'm not particularly interested, either, but since I host only once a year, I'll serve dinner to 16 dice-throwing women, with a smile, and I won't be making anything with leftover turkey in it either!!

I am using my son Joey's, instead. He is a Leo. The horoscope will be in bold type, and my offering will follow.

LEO (July 23-Aug.22)**** You cannot and will not be held down. Let your imagination combine with another person's inspired vision. You learn that nearly anything is possible.

Anything is possible. I've heard that all my life. Do I believe it? Maybe not at my age, but it could be for my son. He's young, a gifted teacher and writer, with a wonderful, supportive wife and twin toddlers!

He's been down lately--Mom knows! When he was teaching "at risk" teens, and mentally or physically challenged ones, he used his imagination to make them eager to learn.
Now he's teaching "smart kids." Many are lazy, and having them reach their potential is a struggle. He's lost sight of his vision, and needs some inspiration. I'm calling him!

Judie,
Joey is a remarkable writer and we learn much about people through their written words. He is deep and introspective, and I agree with you that he is capable of doing anything he wants, and he will do it well. So kudos to you, his mom, as well as to Joey.

Hugs---cher

Nicely done. I hope your call helps lift his spirits.

It's been an outbar kinda visit.

I can feel the mommy love.

It is sort of funny to me to read about a teacher who loves to teach the special needs children, but sort of dreads the smart kids. Wish we had a teacher like that here for my special kiddo. Sounds like your son is both a good teacher and a good person.

Teaching is a hard profession. I only lasted 8 years. Kudos to him for tackling the tough ones. I'm rooting for him! It's no surprise to me that the "smart" kids are harder to handle. They've never struggled like the others. Please give him my best.

It is such a sad truth of our society. The schools are a mess and the teachers get the blame.
Please do encourage him - we cannot afford to lose another good teacher!

I feel bad for him. Sometimes I think "smart kids" aren't as smart as they think are, ha. Hopefully, your son can find his vision with these kids.

I hope you will click on his name, in yellow, and go to his blog. His current post, and his poem, written while waiting for two students to complete make-up work, speaks volumes as to just how these children are being raised.

Great post. I can so totally relate to the frustration with smart lazy kids - it doesn't stop at high school
graduation either, unfortunately.

Somebody said genius is one percent genetic and 99 percent hardwork. I guess the smart kids forgot that!

Hmmm, that is a good one! Way to encourage mom. :-)
I'm on the cusp of Leo/Virgo - Aug 23rd. I had to go way way way back to my birth time to find out my true sign. I was born ONE minute into Virgo. I hope the doc got the time right...if not...I could be a Leo or maybe a true cusp birth. :-)

The "smart kids" have a wall of defenses ten feet thick around them. Time and experience will chip it away. Meanwhile, Joey needs to lift his own spirits and soar to his own heights. Hope your phone call helped.

I want to tell these smart-mouthed kids to run away now while they still know everything. Real life is going to be a shock to them later.

What a great mom, lifting up a heart and a spirit in need.

I hope your handsome son finds his vision again. I think we artists do founder sometimes. I know I do. A good person in your corner is the most precious thing. Thank you for being that precious to me. I'll talk to you soon. Dental surgery tomorrow. I hope not to be down for too long.

I took away my first attempt at this, in case you tried to visit my post and found that it was not accessable. But it's working now. I have finally finished writing a Centus for week 30.
Best wishes,

'Smart kids' are often too smart for their own good.
Cheers!
