Little Sunbeams

Shrimp Boats at Latitude 31 - Good Night, Sunshine!

The Rogue Speaks:

We are home from our 4500 mile round trip to the Georgia coast and back! I am happy to report that last year's purging (The Road Home)allowed me to thoroughly enjoy this year's VACATION. We drove to Fernandina Beach one evening to meet up with The Disconnected Writer and his wife Carol for a delightful dinner at The Crab Trap. What fun to actually meet another blogger face to face. The four of us plan to get together again in the future.

Little Liz and Mulligan really enjoyed the beach, and even ventured into the surf. Rod would occasionally let them off their leashes and they would dash off to chase the seagulls. They never stayed away too long, however, and always came dashing back to us--safety!!

The blackout drapes in the motel room didn't fool them into thinking that it was still night, so every morning I was "kissed" awake by my two dog children. That fact is a perfect segue way into my Saturday Centus for this week. The prompt is in bold type:

"Blechh! Ptuy! Stop it! No more kisses! No! No! Don’t lick my eyes!”

This is what we went through every Jekyll morning. Our two little dog children were so anxious to go running on the beach, that they just would not let us stay in bed!

“Yes, my little loves! You are my sunshine!!”

I am so happy that you enjoyed such a marvelous vacation this year, my sister. You deserved that. Out "little sunshines" really do brighten our days, don't they? I love those slurpy kisses and the unconditional love they never cease to give.

Welcome home, Judie! Your doggies are hilarious, though I wouldn't have been laughing if I were you. I hope you're able to catch up on your sleep now that you've come back. Very fun piece, as always. Oh, I love this music too.

Welcome back! Did I ever mention that I grew up on Saint Simons, graduated from high school with Charlie Williams, who opened the original Crab Trap on SSI? I'm so glad you love my little corner of the world.

Good for the Dog Children. Morning on the beach at Jekyll is not to be missed!

Namaste........cj

I could totally relate to this Centus! With five dogs that are all clock watchers, no one gets to sleep in under my roof.

Hi Judie, sounds like a great trip! I bet your two pups both thoroughly enjoyed playing in the sea. Had they ever seen the sea before?

I'm glad to hear that you met with JJ too! The internet can bring people together across great divides huh?

Dear Judie,
Thank you for visiting and commenting on my SC-post. I decided to ditch John Tell and let my character Sanna's life be more like my own - alone. I agree with Ames and you - If Mr. Right appears it will probably be when Sanna least expects it. For myself, I am less hopeful. My ex has gotten worse since the divorce and I am actually afraid of making the same mistake twice. From now on I will have enough to do taking care of the children, the cats and finding an income or a job.

It was fun reading your SC-post. Sounds like you had a great vacation. I'm so happy for you. I don't have a dog that licks me in the morning, but one cat, Sara, has been with me through the move to the new apartment. She says "meow" in the morning. I think she thinks that she is cat number one now. I hope it goes alright when the other five cats from home from the farm.

Sara Cat has her own blog and she has a post about the move.

Best wishes,
Anna

P.S.
I clicked on your music button by mistake, I think. John Denver's voice makes tears come to my eyes. His "Sunshine on my shoulder" is perfect for this week's challenge!

Welcome home Judie! I'm so glad your vacation was a peaceful respite. I remember the turmoil that last year's visit took on your heart.

I just came back from a an almost 2 week vacation myself. Mine was not fun. At all. It was mostly duty and moving our college girl into her new apartment and the worst of all, too many days of Disney World.

How wonderful you got to bring the pups. I would love to take my girls, but I'm afraid the three of them are too gigantic for most hotel rooms. So blackout curtains don't work, eh? I was thinking of trying them, since the dawn wakes our Sophie every ding-dang day. Well, I'm back and getting back into the swing of things. You deserved this great vacation!

aahhhh....sounds like a most wonderful vacation! I assume that's Rod over there on the side of your blog washing off a doggie child! What delight these "little sunbeams" bring into our lives even if they do give blechy kisses!

I'm jealous of your trip. I could use a good and long car trip right about now. Alas, it's just not going to happen this summer. Sounds like you created some great memories.
