The Rogue Speaks:
ELECTRIC LEAVES
The leaves cruched under my boots until they didn't. I had reached the edge of the lake. I turned and gazed up the path. On the left was the sourwood tree, its leaves glowing neon red in the sun--electric leaves.
A young woman and her lover lay on a faded quilt beneath the tree, their bodies close, his fingers gently pushing her long brown hair back from her face. She slipped her arms around his waist and pulled him down to her.
I turned and, opening the urn, I flung the contents into the water, saving a little to place by the sourwood tree, under our electric leaves.
An October Saturday Centus, with 109 words including the prompt, which is in bold type. If you have not taken part in this exercise, please consider joining me and the other Centusians, led by our muse, Jenny Matlock. Every week is a different challenge, and it is so much fun to read the creative ideas of other writers.
Blogger is messing with my head again, and won't let me publish photos with my post, so you will find the photo for this Centus in my right sidebar. If anyone knows what's going on with these strange and goofy error codes blogger is handing out, please let me know. Google doesn't even know! What do you think about that??
See you on Thursday!!

A good one.
Blogger always messes with me where photos are concerned! - can't help.
Sorry to hear about blogger, I know it seems once things go well, something else pops up, and the entire internet everywhere seems to be running so slow....it's a munch and crunch of the keys sometimes!!! But who needs your photos when you words painted such a lovely scene! Superbly!
BTW have you seen this cool article?

check it out-it's great- and have you seen Jeff Daniel's Newsroom where he answers Is America Great?
Let me know what you think! :)
A very sentimental story Judie. Can't help you with Blogger. I think it has a mind of it's own.
P.S. I finally sent you an email. I hope you got it. I would like your new mailing address. ~Ames
sad but nice tale. great take on the prompt.
I have no clue why you have problems with posting photos, I just posted something with photos and it was okay. sorry, no help here but I hope whatever it is will be fix soon. It usually does.
have a great day.
oh what a sweet sweet tale ...love the imagery ... and love the photo as well!
Nicely done, Judie. Love the photo. It's interesting to me that someone else wrote about ashes being scattered...
Great job on the writing - didn't need the photo - you had me at crunched :-)
I've never heard of a sourwood tree - I'm going to look that one up.
Have a nice weekend

My Wonderfully Dysfunctional Blog
Love this one...intrigued with the couple and then the "ashes" came in. Excellent "pull and smack"! I will also have to check out the tree! Great picture, too!

You have a talent for creating a big story in only a few words. I'd like to read more!
Such wonderful description with so few words. Great job, Judie! laurie @ http://dealingwithmyinnercritic.blogspot.com/
Judie: I read you. Blogger does mess with one's head. I downloaded Windows Live Writer, and I post to that program and let the program post to Blogger. It works well, and you can still edit in Blogger if you wish.
Hi Judie -- we were in Savannah just for a week to clean out my mother-in-law's house. Lots of work, lots of stuff and a 13 hr. drive to St. Louis to drop off some furniture. Start for home tomorrow. where are you living that is 80 miles from Sav?
What a sentimental piece this is and I love how you caught me by surprise at the end. So much said and yet I want to know more...a lot written in between the lines. Wonderfully done!!Mine is here
Have you a ROCKING AND BLESSED WEEK!!!
